We are looking for a dynamic leader with strong experience in marine programs to mentor and guide this branch in reducing emissions that impact portside commmunities. The Freight Activity Branch has programmatic responsibility and expertise on seaport-related emission sources, including ocean-going vessels and harbor craft. The four sections in this branch develop and implement regulatory and incentive-based emission reduction strategies for freight sources to support community health risk reduction, attain air quality standards, and meet climate change goals. Supporting tasks include: emissions and cost analyses; technology evaluations of equipment and infrastructure to inform emission reduction strategies; projects to advance the emission control technology and increase efficiency; inputs for health risk analyses; and administration of contracts. The branch also leads the division and Board’s participation in cooperative efforts with seaports on their own plans and policies and represents California Air Resources Board (CARB) on committees and work groups within the Administration and with local air districts, federal agencies, industry groups, the Legislature, and affected communities.
