Job Description
National non-profit hiring for an exciting transformational leadership position. Reporting to the CFO, the Controller, will serve as a core leader on the Finance team, driving the operational and strategic success of our full accounting function. Leading a talented team of 8–12 accounting and transaction processing professionals, you will oversee everything from daily transaction processing to long-term fiscal stewardship. In this role, you’ll direct financial close cycles, billing, AP/AR, payroll, fixed assets, grant accounting, revenue recognition, and procurement operations. Beyond day-to-day management, you will hold primary oversight for US and Canadian tax compliance across federal, state, provincial, and local levels, direct our annual audit and Form 990 preparation, and champion a robust internal control environment.
As a strategic partner to FP&A, Procurement, HR, Tech, Legal, and program leadership, you will bridge technical accounting precision with cross-functional collaboration; ensuring operational excellence, strong financial stewardship, and the long-term sustainability of the organization. Remote-first environment, expected travel 1x a month, corporate headquarters in Herndon, VA, salary $215-250,000 with 10% Director bonus potential, Bachelor's and active CPA required.
