Beacon Learning is a specialized academic therapy center focused on structured literacy, dyslexia intervention, and executive functioning support . We provide individualized, evidence-based instruction to students with learning differences, with a strong emphasis on long-term skill development and measurable progress.

We are growing and seeking a highly capable Dyslexia Therapist to join our team.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site position based in Mount Pleasant, SC.

You will provide 1:1 structured literacy instruction using an Orton-Gillingham–based approach. Most sessions take place in our center, with some school-based and virtual sessions during daytime hours.

You will work with a range of students, including middle and high school students, and will be expected to:

• deliver explicit, systematic reading and spelling instruction
• adapt lessons based on student performance and data
• maintain consistent documentation and session planning
• communicate clearly and confidently with families
• support students in building independence and academic confidence

This is a client-facing role that requires both strong instructional skill and professional presence.

Schedule & Caseload

• ~20–25 hours per week (with potential up to 30)
• Sessions are ~50 minutes, with built-in time for planning, documentation, and communication
• Primarily 1:1 instruction

Your caseload will be built over the first month or two. We currently have approximately 15 sessions ready to assign , with a steady flow of new clients.

Your schedule will include:

• School time sessions (school-based, virtual, or in-office) These hours vary a bit, depending on each caseload.
• Consistent afternoon hours (approximately 2:00–5:30 PM) at our Mount Pleasant center

We prioritize:

• consistent weekly schedules
• efficient session flow
• continuity for students and families

Compensation & Benefits

• $45–$50/hour (W-2) for all hours worked, including administrative time
• Travel time compensated at $30/hour when applicable

Additional benefits:

• Up to $300/month health insurance reimbursement (after 90 days)
• Up to 3% retirement match (after 90 days)

Qualifications

Preferred

• Wilson, Orton-Gillingham, or similar structured literacy training

Required

• Experience working with students with dyslexia or related learning differences
• Strong understanding of structured literacy principles
• Ability to teach both decoding and encoding effectively
• Strong communication skills with both students and parents
• Ability to work independently and manage a consistent caseload
