This is a contract-funded position supporting U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of the Chief Medical Officer.

ABOUT PSCG

Essential Healthcare Solutions LLC is supporting Pinnacle Solutions & Consulting Group (PSCG), an SBA-Certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in New Braunfels, Texas, in its search for motivated, solution-driven team players eager to embrace the responsibilities of working in a dynamic and professionally rewarding environment. SDVOSB delivers federal staffing, healthcare, and program management services to DHS, HHS, the Department of Defense, and prime contractors. We operate lean, move fast, and care about doing right by the people in our facilities and on our teams.

THE ROLE

PSCG is hiring caring, dependable, and bilingual Child Caregivers to provide direct daily care for unaccompanied children (UC) and minor children of family units in the temporary custody of U.S. Customs and Border Protection. You will work inside designated U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) facilities along the southwest border, providing trauma-informed care at the level expected of a state-licensed daycare — adapted for a federal facility environment. The children you support, from newborns through age 17, are often tired, scared, and far from home. Your patience, attentiveness, and professionalism directly affect their safety and well-being during one of the most stressful moments of their lives.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Provide initial and daily orientation to assigned children and explain facility expectations and routines in a calm, age-appropriate way.

• Monitor and assist children during shower and hygiene routines in strict compliance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) — including same-gender assistance for children who cannot bathe independently and contactless monitoring for those who can.

• Assist tender-age children and infants with diapering, toileting, handwashing, feeding (including bottle feeding), and other daily care needs.

• Issue and collect Government-furnished hygiene supplies, towels, and clean clothing; store and reissue clothing while items are being laundered.

• Bag and stage dirty laundry for pickup (third-party laundering — Caregivers do not perform laundering).

• Help distribute meals, snacks, juice, milk, and drinking water; respond promptly to children’s basic needs as they arise.

• Supervise recreation and quiet activities (reading, drawing, age-appropriate play); use discretion to offer warm clothing or blankets to a child who appears cold.

• Communicate each child’s rights to use the telephone and to request medical attention at least twice daily; document each communication in the required tracking log.

• Maintain accurate logs and documentation: orientation, communication and rights, hygiene and personal care, nutrition and meals, clothing and comfort, and supervision and support.

• Maintain inventory of clothing, towels, and hygiene kits; notify USBP staff of low stock so resupply can be initiated before shortages affect care.

• Refer any suspected or reported medical, dental, or mental health concern to USBP personnel or on-site medical staff immediately.

• Maintain a safe, clean working environment and adhere to all DHS, CBP, and facility safety and health protocols at all times.

WHAT YOU NEED

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED accepted) and a valid driver’s license.

• Minimum 18 years of age with current immunization records.

• Bilingual — English and Spanish. Effective verbal communication with children and adults in both languages is required.

• Ability to pass a CBP federal Background Investigation (BI). Includes fingerprinting, e-QIP submission, and review of personal, financial, and criminal history. Favorable adjudication required prior to start.

• Physical ability to bend, stand, walk, and sit for extended periods; lift up to 40 pounds; and see and hear well enough to maintain continuous visual contact with children.

• Strong interpersonal skills — patience, empathy, professionalism, and the ability to remain calm with distressed children and during high-tempo shift changes.

• Willingness to complete required training within 30 days of hire in personal care and toileting, basic hygiene and infection control, environmental safety, basic first aid and emergency procedures, recognition of abuse and neglect, trauma-informed care, and PREA compliance.

WHAT WE’D ALSO LIKE TO SEE

• Prior work in a state-licensed daycare, Head Start, after-school program, foster care, residential treatment, or other child-care setting.

• Experience with unaccompanied children (UC), HHS/ORR shelters, Emergency Influx Facilities, or family residential centers.

• Current CPR / First Aid / AED certification.

• Prior federal contract or government facility experience.

• Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or state child-care registry status.

WHAT WE OFFER

• Federally compliant pay set by the Service Contract Act for the duty location — fair, transparent, and adjusted by the U.S. Department of Labor.

• Full health and welfare benefit allowance per the SCA wage determination.

• Paid time off and federal holidays per SCA requirements.

• Comprehensive paid training, including trauma-informed care, PREA, and DHS Form 1100-6 NDA orientation.

• Career growth path — Caregiver to Supervisor to facility leadership as the contract scales across 8 USBP Sectors.

• Mission-driven team led by veterans, child welfare professionals, and federal program operators.

Send resume and a brief note on why this role fits to patricia.hughes@essentialhcsolutions.com. Reference position code CG in the subject line, and include the Sector and city where you would like to work.
