Training & Development Assignment may be considered for this position.

Under the general direction of the Program and Project Integration Unit Supervisor, the Energy Commission Specialist I (ECS I) serves as part of interdisciplinary and/or interdivisional teams to independently plan and implement the Energy Commission’s contracts, grants, and agreements. The ECS I works independently as a subject matter expert on complex contracts, grants and budgets and provides support and guidance for execution within the areas of the Power Plant Program and the Renewable Energy and Electricity Planning Program. The ECS I works independently and as part of a team to formulate and develop solutions to difficult and controversial issues on a wide range of projects. The ECS I may also develop and manage budgets, may work as a lead person over technical specialists, or may work on the more complex projects.

Working Conditions

The CEC supports a hybrid workplace model with office-based and remote-centered workers. Limited in-person attendance and occasional travel may be required based on the needs of the division. Regular and consistent attendance is essential to successful performance. This position is remote-centered, which means the incumbent works 50 percent or more of their time from an alternate work location.

Teleworking is only available for employees who reside in California. You must be located in California and provide your in-state address prior to your start date.

6) Ability to effectively communicate technical information, verbally and in writing, with decision-makers, diverse stakeholders, and the public.
7) Experience working on projects pertaining to energy permitting, development and/or policy.
8) Ability to work well as part of a team and perform independent tasks that contribute towards a shared goal.

Describe your experience and ability in managing multiple complex contracts and agreements for energy projects and supporting services, including how you track and manage budgets, invoices, and schedules, rectify discrepancies, forecast budgets and workloads for future years, and stay organized.

2. Describe your experience tracking and forecasting internal organization budgets and external contracted budgets and your ability to navigate the overlap.

3. Describe your experience communicating with different levels of management in written, illustrative, and verbal format.

4. Describe your ability to collaborate with colleagues and establish and maintain cooperative and positive working relationships within cross-functional teams and with internal and external stakeholders.
