Under general supervision of the Information Technology Manager I (IT Mgr I) of zOS Storage, the Information Technology Associate (IT Assoc) may perform a variety of recurring, well-defined tasks requiring occasional innovative problem solving within guidelines and a scope that may encompass one or more unit guidelines. The scope typically includes multiple program areas, and involves planning, developing, and implementing technological solutions that are essential to the missions of the overall organization, or affecting large numbers of people on a long-term or continuous basis.
The IT Assoc may serve in an entry-level technical support, working as part of a team of highly trained professionals supporting software systems in a mainframe and client/server computing environment. Works independently or as a team member. Provides a variety of software support services for customer departments. Under the guidance of senior technical staff, installs, maintains, tests, monitors and tunes department wide zSystems Hardware, Operating Systems and/or general-purpose software products in the zSystems and client/server environments.
Assist in the development and maintenance of customized online and/or batch interfaces and exits to support software, under the guidance of senior technical staff. Monitor and validate the correctness of products’ functions and scheduled batch jobs. Provides consultation and support as needed to support the customer department staff in the use of the products that the unit supports. Quickly, efficiently, and effectively troubleshoot and resolve problems encountered with using the products supported by the unit and proactively identify possible future problems and solutions.
Telework
This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule within California
based on departmental policy and operational needs. The telework policy is
subject to change depending on business needs, and/or reporting to the work
site may be required with minimal notification given. Pursuant to Executive
Order, effective July 1, 2025, employees in this position will be required to
report to the work site a minimum of two (2) days per week, increasing to four
(4) days per week effective July 1, 2026. The specific on-site days will be
determined by the department based on operational requirements.
