Job Description

The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area. Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

Job Summary

A Catholic School Teacher is responsible for fostering a Christ-centered, academically excellent learning environment that nurtures the spiritual, intellectual, social, and emotional growth of each student. The teacher will integrate Catholic values into all aspects of education, maintain high academic standards, and uphold the mission and vision of the school in alignment with the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools (NSBECS).

Job Responsibilities

  • Model and uphold Catholic values, integrating faith-based principles into daily instruction, student interactions, and classroom activities.
  • Foster a respectful, inclusive, and faith-centered learning environment that reflects Catholic teachings and promotes student dignity.
  • Participate actively in school liturgies, prayer services, religious celebrations, and other faith formation activities.
  • Plan, develop, and deliver standards-based instruction aligned with Archdiocesan curriculum requirements, state standards, and the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools (NSBECS).
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, including differentiated instruction, to meet the diverse learning needs of all students.
  • Create engaging learning experiences that promote critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, and a lifelong love of learning.
  • Apply current educational research and best practices to enhance instructional effectiveness and student achievement.
  • Support the spiritual, academic, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Establish and maintain high expectations for student behavior, academic performance, and personal responsibility.
  • Monitor and assess student learning through formative and summative assessments, using data to inform instruction and support student growth.
  • Communicate effectively and regularly with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues regarding student progress, achievements, and areas for improvement.
  • Build and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with students, families, faculty, staff, and the broader school community.
  • Participate in and support school events, extracurricular activities, service initiatives, and community-building efforts.
  • Serve as a role model of faith, service, professionalism, and academic excellence.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to strengthen instructional practices and remain current with educational trends and requirements.
  • Reflect on professional practice, seek and incorporate feedback, and pursue continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement strategies that support student success and advance school goals.

Job Requirements

• Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church.

• Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field

• Valid teaching credential or certification appropriate for elementary education.

• Strong knowledge of Catholic teachings and a commitment to faith-based education. • Experience teaching in a classroom setting, preferably in a Catholic school.

• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

• Proficiency in using educational technology to enhance instruction.
